FRM220-FXO-FXS-SC002 RJ11 telephone line (POTS) Extender - sending PSTN telephone lines over fiber

Portland, Oregon, October 12th, 2008 - RAL Communications Corp., a dedicated distributor of fiber optic data communication equipments is now launching the new Telephone line (POTS) Extender for FRM220 in-band managed chassis, with a very competitive cost and complete management features.

The new POTS over fiber Telephone Line extender is a fully managed fiber media converter from the FRM220 in-band managed series. The POTS extender allows one RJ11 telephone line, either FXS type (telephone set) of FXO (PBX trunk) end to be sent over fiber optic cables. This enables users to get advantage of the fiber optic deployment and send secure, EMI free telephone lines over fiber optic infrastructure. With a simple DIP switch setting, the same converter/extender can be set as FXS or FXO equipment. Compared with others competitor products, the FRM220-FXO-FXS-SC002 offers an affordable pricing, delivering same performance and manageability while staying in line with the Fiber Optic for All mission - bringing efficient and affordable fiber optic solutions.

The FRM220-FXO-FXS-SC002 is a POTS over fiber Extender that works either as a standalone device or as a card that can be inserted into the FRM220 managed aggregation chassis. The FRM220-FXO-FXS-SC002 POTS over fiber extender/converter is able to operate on multi-mode fiber up to 2Km distance using 1310nm optical wavelength. Same unit can be set either as FXO(PBX trunk) or FXS(terminal device: telephone set, fax machine, dial-up modem) device using the front DIP switches.

Another strong feature of the newly launched FRM220 series is the ability to have in-band management, supporting TS-1000 and IEEE802.3ah standards as well as SNMP, telnet and console management through the NMC card of the FRM220-CH chassis. The chassis allows redundant AC or DC power supplies for up to 19 fiber media converters, occupies only 2U height into a 19" rack mount system.

Although Fiber Media Converters are not the hottest technologies in communications, we strongly believe the new FRM220 managed series has all strengths to become a very successful product in US market, due to its very affordable price and excellent reliability offered by a dedicated communications manufacturer such as CTCUnion Technologies Co.
