FMC series - The newest unmanaged fiber conversion solution for Fast Ethernet

Nov 26, 2007 - Unmanaged FMC media converters are now available
FMC media converters - a new solution for very low cost Fast Ethernet fiber deployment

Portland, Oregon, November 26th, 2007 - RAL Communications Corp., a dedicated distributor of fiber optic data communication equipments is now launching the newest series of fiber media converters FMC, with a very competitive cost, small size and local monitor features.

The strength of newly launched FMC series is not only its small size, neither its ability to aggregate in small density central powered chassis and nor the features of Link-Fault-Pass through function (LFP - an extremely useful feature to easily debug faulty fiber links) and Far-End-Fault function (FEF), but the extremely affordable pricing, making this solution a choice for even very tight data networking budgets.

The FMC series are Fast Ethernet standalone media converters. All FMC converters have auto MDI/MDI-X copper ports and Auto-negotiation of speed connection as well as operating mode (Half or Full Duplex). More, the FMC series are able to support Jumbo data packet frames up to 9K bytes size. The media converters are available with multimode , singlemode and WDM optical modules. Distances covered are very similar with the SNMP managed FIB1 series of media converters, from 15Km to 120Km for singlemode dual fiber circuit and from 20Km up to 80Km for WDM single strand fiber optic links.

Another strong feature of the newly launched FMC series is the ability to aggregate in small 8 port chassis, the FMC-CH08. The chassis allows a single power supply for up to 8 media converters, occupies only 2U height and can be installed together with another FMC-CH08 chassis, side by side into a 19" rack mount system. This feature makes the FMC converter a perfect choice for small fiber data aggregation nodes where fiber management is not needed.

FMC series of media converters is perfectly suitable for either small Internet Service Providers or System Integrators installing fiber connections in narrow spaces and without a dedicated management system running. Its small capacity makes it a perfect choice for rural areas, as well as small office datacenters.

Although Fiber Media Converters are not the hottest technologies in communications, we strongly believe the new FMC series has all strengths to become a very successful product in US market, due to its very affordable price and excellent reliability offered by a dedicated communications manufacturer such as CTCUnion Technologies Co.
